News and updates | RedRage | 06-24-2008 08:10:32 PM
Lots of happenings, and busy stuff.

First and not so important, ya I know I fixed the contact form.

Second and semi important, my first domain expired and was not paying attention and someone grabbed it from me. and i cannot make payments on other domains because my email was with that domain... damnit.

Third, thinking about working on this site again new designs and stuff.

Fourth, I am working on a myspace CSS Generator so you can make basic layout changes with out slowing your page down, unlike most of them out there that put on dumbass graphics. Once i get the font issue worked out ill put it up for beta testing.
IPTables filtering Asian IP Addresses | RedRage | 12-26-2006 03:55:26 PM
I recently added another Geek portion to the page. This time it is for people who want to block access to their Linux/IPTables systems from Asian countries. Click the link above to view the IPTables Firewall files.
Finally... | RedRage | 09-09-2006 02:26:07 PM
I finally got around to importing the Krazys images into the database and they are ready for your viewing pleasure. Sorry it took so long but I was a bit busy.

Click the Adams Pics link above to view.

Other News, Hearn Neely and I started classes last Wendsday. It is going to be a long year. No offense to anyone out there but if you cannot figure out how to turn a computer on or off you should NOT be in a programming class. But the think I do like about it is that the classes are going to be fairly easy. Basic programming and server admin. Most stuff I have been doing for 10 years or so.

Another thing that is funny too. We went around the room giving background info and such. Some of these people have 50 years experience with Intell computers yet they cannot figure out how to install JDK which is just click click, next, next, uncheck uncheck finish. No problems with the people just funny.
Ahh Piss | RedRage | 08-28-2006 09:35:01 PM

Project GD and Clean Mail | Red Rage | 08-16-2006 07:33:29 AM
Good news, the creators of the SWG Emulater released the source and can now compile it. You really cannot do a whole heck of alot, but it does work. I will be keeping a sharp eye on it.

I have finally gotten all the scripts to set it up. But I found that I will have to relearn some things I have forgotten which is ok.

The bad news, The new server has been delayed, the provider I was going to use has stopped taking new orders for the time being. Once it is open again I will grab me one or 5.

JCars is pretty much scrapped. I may come back to it and finish it but I doubt it as it serves no real purpose.

Wlan, eh is pretty much done but I might be on the move again and do not want to spend the money for the equipment. ( High powered Access Points and such )
Project Updates: | Red Rage | 08-16-2006 07:22:36 AM
Project Updates:

JNews: Pretty much "done". Maybe I should say it is pretty much done for the site I created it for. Instead of using flat files as I was before, I decided to use MySQL. I am really not sure of MySQL's future use since they are going commercial so another Database my be better for future uses.

Some of the features of jNews are (in no particular order)
Newspaperish Layout - CSS, html
99% database - Everything stored in the DB except the script and css
Easy story management - Mostly Point and click
Classified Ads - using an Ad-Vision Export file
Easy Setup - edit a config file, upload and run one command
Semi-Modular - write your own add-ons
Weather Module - Using National Weather Service Info and Radar
W3C Compliant - Ran through HTML and CSS tests on W3C's Site (and passed)
Basic Authentication - to gather basic user info such as general location
Rotating Ad system - Easy upload of ads and impression counting
RSS Feed - Automatically Generated when stories are uploaded
So where you from? | Red Rage | 06-26-2006 12:14:27 PM
A woman from Pittsburgh and another from the West coast were seated side-by-side on an airplane. The woman from Pittsburgh, being friendly and all, said: "So, where are you from?"

The West coast woman said, "From a place where they know better than to use a preposition at the end of a sentence."

The woman from Pittsburgh sat quietly for a few moments and then replied: "So, where are you from, bitch?"

Quick Movie Reviews | Red Rage | 08-16-2006 07:24:18 AM
Couple Quick Movie Reviews: Spoiler Alert

X-Men 3: The Last Stand.
According to Gomez it should be called "X-men 3: Yet another Wolverine Movie". While the movie is not really about Wolverine, He does play the main role just like the others. The movie starts out pretty damn slow. Mostly building up on how Jean is this badass mutant. From what I can tell and remember from the comics, they're not really following the comics on the Phoenix saga but the changes make the story feel earthy, like it could possibly happen. Die hard comic people may not like it but get over it. There are some bloopers in the move such as the I have not pants, w00t I got pants in the final battle, but mostly well done.

If you are going to see this movie expecting to see new mutants like colossus or angel you will be disappointed. Colossus has two scenes where he throws wolverine, oh wow. Angel catches his dad while he is falling and escapes the "cure". Kitty pride takes out Juggernaut and he flips out on her, fairly funny.

The one "new" mutant, Beast was really well done the one scene he fights was excellent. Storm has really evolved into a good character. If you remember in the first one she sucked and her hair style was horrible. Now she really uses her powers (when needed), can fight and her hair ( along with the rest of her ) is pretty sexy. Rouge really has no real part in the movie, which is a shame, I was hoping Ms. Marvel would show so she could get some of her comic powers. Then again with out Gambit, Rouge isn't all that fun.

IMPORTANT: If you go see the movie, stay through the credits, I guess there is an extra scene after them.

That said, I missed that scene. My expectations for X-Men 4, Continuation of the Phoenix Saga while bringing the Sentinels into the picture, Continuing the Phoenix saga will allow lost players to come back and the Sentinels are just fun.

Serenity:

It is a fairly old movie (a year?), but I just watched it. I was really surprised, it was pretty dang good. It reminded me of the matrix a bit. Bunch of people flying in a ship fighting a superior opponent with one person who is nearly unstoppable trying to find the answer. That is about where the similarities end. This movie could've used a bullet time sequence or seven but it was still done really well.

The script was pretty good with some good comic relief. The story could have used a little more background but most everything does get tied up in the end. Which is good because I doubt there will be a sequel to this one.

This is a highly rent-able movie, maybe even buy it.
PROJECTS, UPDATES and CHANGES | Red Rage | 08-16-2006 07:27:53 AM
I am currently working on many projects and hopefully will complete some of them.

PROJECTS:

PROJECT JCARS (Joe's Computer Access and Retrieval System):

Ever see the computer interface on Star Trek? This will be my rip off of that. This is a minor project and chances are it will end with one application. But it's fun to play with. Instead of writing a completely new shell for Windows XP I think I'll just use existing tools and make a theme for Style XP. Style XP is not freeware but its pretty cool and worth a buy if you have a newer system with plenty of ram.

Currenlty one application is partially done and is on hold for now.

PROECT GD:

As some of you know I currently run my own server. And as a couple of you may know I also setup games on it. I'll be moving GD to what it was suppose to be originally, a gaming site. Main purpose is to set up test games such as EverQuest, World of Warcraft, Matrix Online, Star Wars Galaxies and other online RPG's. I may even do some Classic First person shooter games such as Quake (the original), Half Life and Counter Strike. This all depends if I can find my CD's.

Initial Game is going to be EverQuest will be 100% free but not public during testing. After testing it will open to the public being completely free. After some time period, I'm guessing about a month I will accept donations to keep the server running. Donations will pay for the server, if it does not come close to the cost server may close until the point where they do. The cost is not a lot but enough to ask for donations.

PROJECT CLEAN MAIL:

Most everyone hates junk mail. A couple of us have worked on a mail server system that can get rid of junk mail and virus mail quite effectively. From tests run roughly 90% of junk is removed with less than 1% false positives. This project is mostly complete. This is run at a domain level, it will not run on single email addresses ( such as hotmail or yahoo email) it will work if you have a domain. If you have a personal domain ( something like redrage.net ) we can help you get rid of some of that junk mail.

This service will not be free due to the fact that we have put many hours days and weeks into getting this run. Also the hardware requirments are pretty high for sites that get plenty of junk. Pricing will depend on cost and the amount of mail processed. Will be released at a later time.

PROJECT WLAN 161:

The goal of this project is to provide my neighbor hood with wireless internet access. This will be donation sponsered. The goal is to set up a wireless access point and extend it through out Clarion starting at my location. It will use existing wireless technologies (802.11b and g) to connect to access points. From these access points it will connect to a login server verify usernames and passwords and then grant or deny access to the Internet.

Why do this you say? Because other companies have it here and either do not reach or cost to much to be practical for a home user.

PROJECT jNews:

In my current job I have started working on a web site program for news sites. Allows for easy upload of stories, picutres and advertisements. Also will include module support so users and developers can write and add modules for jNews easily.

This project is roughly 75% done for alpha release.

PERSONAL UPDATES:

New job working for a local Publishing company doing various things. I'm currently training on News Paper dummying. While not that hard there are quite a few Gotcha's that I'm trying to figure out. Also configuring Linux servers and some desktop systems, Fun stuff.

Some how I got addicted to World of Warcraft, trying to break that addiction so I can work on the projects above. So far so good LOL.

I've been working off and on, on my guitar skills. I've been able to play rhythm with the best of them now I can do fillers and some basic lead as long as I can hear it. Hopefully in time I can actually play some lead for real. Oh I hate those people who fake play'n a good lead by distorting it, there are a lot of songs that's good for but there are just as many that are not. Get a pedal at least.

FURTHER UPDATES:

I will try to make an update once a week on each project.

And that's all I have to say about that.
